Gearbox Transmission Transaxle

Image
Gearbox  The gearbox is an important part of an automobile with a mechanical device. It is utilized to increase the output torque and change the speed variation of the vehicles by the gear ratio. This means that the gearbox allows the engine to run at different speeds.   Why is a gearbox necessary in an automobile? The gearbox is necessary to regulate both the power output and the speed range of the engine relative to the vehicle speed. In the automobile, a gearbox is fitted after the clutch unit and it provides the driver can increase the driving torque and speeds to cop-up with the road and load condition.  The necessity of gear gearbox variation of resistance to the vehicle motion at various speeds and variation of tractive effort of the vehicle available at various speeds.   Construction and gear arrangement of the gearbox. The construction of the gearbox consists of the following two units -  Gearbox housing, containing are shafts such as la...

Automobile clutch works

Image
Automobile clutch The automobile drivetrain carries power from the engine to the drive wheels. In-vehicle with a manual transmission or manual transaxle (Gearbox). The power flows through a clutch. This device engages and disengages the manual transmission and transaxle and the engine power. The purpose of the clutch The clutch is an important part of the transmission system. It transmits engine power to the gearbox at various speeds. The clutch is to temporarily disconnect the gearbox unit when the gear has to be shifted to first to second and other gears in the manual gearbox. It also used for a slowdown vehicle and complete stop, without turning off the engine. The clutch is located between the gearbox (transmission) and the engine. Types of automobile clutch Generally when we talk about types of clutch most common clutch used in heavy-duty vehicle and light-duty passengers car is the friction type of clutch with a single plate dry clutch. Expect a two-wheeler motorcycle and s...

Catalytic Converter Two Way & Three Way Cat-Con.

Image
The Indian government introduced Bharat Stage Emission Standard Norms which regulates vehicle exhaust emitting air pollutants gases, which was based on Euro Emission Standard Norms. In the year 2001 1st April Bharat Stage II implemented for all Indian vehicles than every four years upgraded emission norm updated. All vehicles manufacturers follow the emission norm so that vehicle installed catalytic converters into the engine exhaust system to the heavy and light-duty vehicles. Catalytic Converter  In an automobile, the catalytic converter has been used in the vehicle emissions control system. It is located in the vehicle's exhaust system and all exhaust gas must flow through it. The catalytic converter has to convert harmful pollutants in the exhaust gases into harmless gases. The major three emissions which the vehicle's tailpipe emits exhaust gases that contain pollutants are Hydrocarbon  (HC), Carbon monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen oxides (NOx). These air pollutants are ...

Gasoline Direct Injection(GDI) Vs Multipoint Fuel Injection (MPFI) Vs Carburattor Fuel sysstem

Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) Vs Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPFI) Vs  Carburettor fuel Spray Bharat Stage emission norms BS-VI introduced by the Indian government to regulate air pollutants coming out from motor vehicles to make a healthier environment for the country. It was applied for petrol engine and diesel engine operated machine and equipment including motor vehicles and motorcycle (bikes & Scooter) was started 1st April 2020 onward. According to that Now in Indian Automotive industries, the vehicles manufacturers have been adopting Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) technology, especially in Petrol Engine. GDI is also called Petrol Direct Injection. Gasoline Direct Injection(GDI) is mainly based on the fuel injection system on the spark-ignition engine (Petrol engine). Before explaining this technology, look back two decades ago spark-ignition engine (Petrol engine) used fuel supplied by fuel system with the help of a Carburettor and mechanical fuel pump and other ...

Common Rail Direct Injection / Engine (CRDi)

Image
Common Rail Direct Injection / Engine (CRDi) common rail direct injection(CRDi) technology developed for diesel engine fuel injection system. Today all modern diesel engines introduced common rail direct injection(CRDi) technologies so far. This technology is similar to which petrol engine Bharat stage VI (BS-6) engine called Gasoline Direct Engine. Both technologies work on similar designs to deliver the pressurized fuel in the engine combustion chamber with the help of their fuel components. All car manufacturers have adopted the same design technologies but given their different names of CRDi engine systems. Supportive Components CRDi fuel system support components are fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel pump (low pressure),  pressure regulating valve, high-pressure pump, common rail, pressure relief valve, solenoid-operated fuel injectors, sensors and control unit. Why the need for CRDi technology? Diesel is the lower quality member of the petrol family. Diesel particles are la...

Naturally Aspirated Engine Vs Turbocharger Engine

Image
Naturally Aspirated Engine Vs Turbocharger Engine In an automobile size of the engine(Bore & stroke) doesn't always indicate how much power it is, it matters what kind of engines are operating either Naturally Aspirated Engine or Force Induction system Turbocharger Engine.  Nowadays In the auto market, most car manufacturers gradually shifting the Force induction system Turbos engine to the small engine because of more efficiency and power output even on 1 to 2 litres engine ranges on high-end variants like SUV cars and compact SUVs laterally on the petrol engine. Forced Induction System An engine can produce more power at the same speed if more air-fuel mixture or air force in the cylinder more air-fuel mixture higher pressure during the power stroke and higher power output. Forcing additional air-fuel mixture or air in the cylinder is called forced induction. It is one way to improve volumetric efficiency. An engine with forced induction may produce 35 to 60 per cent m...

ENGINE MECHANICAL MEASUREMENTS

Image
ENGINE MECHANICAL MEASUREMENTS Engine performance often depends on mechanical measurements of the engine. These include bore and stroke, piston displacement and compression ratio. The mechanical measurement greatly affects engine torque and power. they also affect operating range or speed. What are car/bikes CC means?  CC stand for cubic centimetre is sometimes called engine capacity. Cubic Centimeter (CC) represent the total volume of air and fuel drawn through the engine by the cylinder ers. The internal combustion (IC) engine size of an engine cylinder is given by its bore and stroke. ENGINE BORE, STROKE AND PISTON DISPLACEMENT The internal diameter of the engine cylinder is called a bore. Bore is always first given an engine measured. In an engine cylinder, the distance that piston move travelling from the Bottom Dead Centre (BDC) to Top Dead Centre (TDC). is called stroke  An engine cylinder piston displacement is the volume the piston displace as it moves from BDC...
