SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AUTOMOTIVE WORKSHOP

Safety Precautions for Automotive Workshop First and foremost, any physically involved mechanical work always risks something happening around the workshop however, everywhere equipment, powered tools, and machinery are in operational condition. So, any negligence or careless action may make your life disabled or permanently handicraft, and sometimes you may lose your life also. Therefore, we should follow the workshop rules that have been made in every workshop and workplace.  There are several general rules applicable in the Automobile sector that are different and applicable from place to place, workplaces like manufacturing plants, repairs, and maintenance workshops, and even roadside garages and house workshops.  It said that Safety first. This means that you protect yourself from any dangerous things around you. So you have to prepare yourself for health and safety working in a safe environment. Whoever auto expertise said an accident happened, no one can prove or say th...

Compression Ratio in Automobile Engines: Definition, Formula, Advantages and Applications

Image
How does the compression ratio matter in your vehicle engine? It depends on which engine your vehicles have whether it is Diesel or Petrol Engine. During compression stroke how much air-fuel mixture in Gasoline/Petrol Engine or only air in Diesel Engine, mixture or air molecules compressed in the engine cylinder combustion chamber. Normally the Compression Ratio (CR) of diesel engines has much higher than that of petrol engines. Those vehicles engines higher compression ratio can improve both power and efficiency. Higher compression ratios contribute to the more proper burns of air-fuel, it also increases combustion temperature. The more compressed the mixture the better it burns or ignites, which gets more power and is more efficient, but one drawback is that the engine produced more nitrogen oxide (Nox) emissions. In the simple term to understand, higher combustion temperature and higher compression ratio lead to creates more Nox exhausts emissions produced. In generally  ...

Variable Valve Timing (VVT) System: Working, Components and Benefits in Modern Engines

Variable Valve Timing VVT We know Internal Combustion (IC) Four-stroke Engine has two engine valves one is called Intake (inlet) and another one is called exhaust (outlet) per engine cylinder. How does the Engine Valve work? The engine valves are doors like devices for opening and closing, for the inhale, air-fuel mixture or air intake the engine cylinder through the intake valve and exhale burned gases exit through exhaust valves. Cam on the rotating camshaft operates the valve train or valve mechanism. Other words intake and exhaust for proper breathing in the smooth engine operation purposes.  Before we should know to understand the Valve Timing of the four-stroke engine. The purpose of valve timing is the timing of the opening and closing to the valve about the engine piston position. It depends on the arrangement of valves and valve train or mechanism. There are several different arrangements of valves and valvetrain / mechanism • Location of the camshaft . (the locatio...

Two-wheeler Engine Lubrication & Cooling systems

Two-wheeler Engine Lubrication & Cooling systems First and foremost, automobile engine oil most important role to play and is one of the major engine supporting systems to keep continue running for IC engines including two-wheeler motorcycles, scooters and four-wheeler cars bus trucks even any type of internal combustion engine.  Engine Oil is the blood of the automobile engines as same as our circulatory system. The engine oil system is called the engine Lubrication system.    Here we discuss the engine lubrication system of the motorcycle and scooter / Scooty engines. In a two-wheeler, engines have slightly different methods of engine oil systems or lubrication systems. In older days two-stroke engines had a mist lubrication system used, this system does not consist of any separate parts like an oil pump. The lubricating oil is mixed into the petrol itself while filling in the petrol tank of the vehicle in a specific ratio.  The modern two-wheelers, motor...

Automobiles Engine Cylinder Bore stroke Ratio

Image
Bore stroke Ratio In the automotive/automobile engines are a large variety of classifications of the engine one of the basic of engine cylinder layouts or bore stroke ratio. The Bore and stroke ratio directly affects the vehicle engines overall performance, engine characteristics, application, engine life, and cost aspects in the two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles. Bore and stroke are major key roles played in the engine characteristics and engine structure. It is a simple word to say that to understand engine cylinder bore and stroke Ratio equal to bore/stroke.  Ratio = Bore/Stroke . Automobile engines are categorised into three sections according to bore stroke ratio. These are:  • Square Engine  • Over-Square Engine (Shorter Stroke Engine) • Under-Square Engine (Longer Stroke Engine) Square Engine   Square Engine have to equal bore to stroke ratio hence the ratio is 1 one. That means when you look square engine with the same sizes as the engine cylinder ...

Automobile Starting & Charging System

Image
Automobile Charging And Starting System When the vehicles are running in the proper manners Starting, Charging and lighting system plays a major role in for smooth operation of any vehicles. These three systems are consists of vehicles electrical or electronic system. The main resource of Starting, Charging and Lighting system are vehicles batteries. The automobile battery supplies an electric current to operate the starting system provides for cranking/ starting the engine. The charging system helps to charge batteries and control the other electrical and electronic devices. The lighting system operates various lights in motor vehicles.  PURPOSE OF STARTING SYSTEM  It is the system using which an engine is cranked for starting purposes. The starter motor or self-starter is a main component of the starring system. The self-starter is an electrical motor that can rotate the crankshaft to start the engine. It converts electrical energy from the battery into mechanical ene...

Automobile Wheels And Tyres

Image
Automobile Wheels And Tyres In earlier older days when motor vehicles Automobiles were introduced wooden wheels were used. To stop faster were on wear on wheel rims of these wooden wheels, steel rings were placed on these. As time passed and the speed of the vehicle increased, more road shocks were felt by the passengers. To avoid this, wooden wheel rings were replaced by rubber cushioned lining. It has steel rings fitted with wooden wheels that were equipped with rubber lining it has been used in tanga wheels. This system worked for some time but when the vehicles speed increased it could not sustain jerks and the ride quality of high speed became uncomfortable then hence it was replaced by the pneumatic (Air) wheels. Pneumatic wheels were first introduced in 1920 and since they are being used as a standard fitting on all modern automobiles. Pneumatic wheels are generally known as tyres and some it also called wheels assembly. Automobiles wheels consist of the wheel hub, disc, rim, ty...
